Supreme Court Hears Mississippi Abortion Case

This morning, the US Supreme Court is hearing arguments in the “Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization” case in Mississippi. This has been widely seen as the most significant case to challenge Roe vs. Wade in decades. Pray today for God’s hand in touching the hearts of the Supreme Court justices, and for God to provide the wisdom to the pro-life lawyers making their case.

Even if Roe vs. Wade is overturned, this would not outlaw abortion nationwide. It would instead place the decisions in the hands of the states. Therefore, places like California would most likely continue as they are, but states like Mississippi or Texas could lawfully restrict abortion, as per the will of the residents of their state. Much has changed since the days of Roe vs. Wade, both culturally and with available technology. Babies are now deemed “viable” at 24 weeks. Sonograms are readily available. More and more people are seeing the logic that life begins at conception – all other lines in the sand are arbitrary and foolish.

In any case, the Mississippi abortion case will not end abortion, but a positive outcome this summer could save the lives of thousands of unborn children.
