Wisdom Wednesday: Living a Godly Life

Therefore guard against profitless grumbling, and from calumny withhold your tongues; for a stealthy utterance does not go unpunished, and a lying mouth slays the soul.  Court not death by your erring way of life, nor draw to yourselves destruction by the works of your hands, because God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living.

For he fashioned all things that they might have being; and the creatures of the world are wholesome, and there is not a destructive drug among them nor any domain of the nether world on earth, for justice is undying.  It was the wicked who with hands and words invited death, considered it a friend, and pined for it, and made a covenant with it, because they deserve to be in its possession…

Wisdom 1:9-16

It is true that bad things happen to good people just as they do the wicked, and due to our fallen nature we all will taste death in the end. However, by living a Godly life to the best of our ability, we can minimize self-destruction and repel unnecessary drama and problems. By making our relationship with Jesus a priority, we can have life and have it to the full, instead of nurturing the darkness within us.

God authored all things except for what we create. He ceded this power through his love for us, through free will. Mankind has the power to create life and death. Sadly it was through our sin that death became a reality. Choose to live a good life – choose the path that leads to God instead of one that falls into self-destruction…
