Why should we forgive others if God wouldn’t even forgive Adam & Eve?

God DID forgive Adam & Eve… but the story in the Garden of Eden is about consequence of sin, not forgiveness. Although forgiven, the consequences were permanent, so much so that the entire universe “fell” into sin.

It is typically regarded that being removed from the garden was a punishment, but it was done so that they would not eat from the tree of life, and be forever stuck in their sinful nature. In this, we see God’s continued love for them. This way, God could redeem the universe in His own time, and wipe sin away according to His perfect will, and the willing sacrifice of his Son.

We are asked to forgive people an unlimited number of times, not only to allow relationships to potentially mend, but mainly to free ourselves from the baggage that comes with sin.
